The Risk Control & Loss Prevention Supervisor provides supervision of risk consulting and assessment activities. This position assists the Risk Control & Loss Prevention Manager in planning organizing and directing the County Risk Management Departments safety environmental and loss control programs. This position also acts as Risk Control Specialist or Environmental Specialist in their absence.

We Require
Three years of experience in risk management occupational safety environmental management or loss control
Bachelors degree in Risk Management Occupational Safety and Health Environmental Science Construction Engineering or a related field
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Two years of supervisory experience
Five years of experience in risk management or safety management
Training in risk management programs risk assessment safety management or environmental management
Experience in developing professional-level training programs
The following certifications are indicative of the needed background and expertise: Certified Safety Specialist (CSP) Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST) Safety Management Specialists (SMS) and others
Job Contributions
Assist in the preparation of operational and risk reports accompanied by management analysis and recommendations
Day-to-day supervision of professional paraprofessional or clerical personnel to ensure that the risk control and loss prevention programs are managed in accordance with public entity standards and best practices
Coordinate accurate and timely assessments to assist County departments in the development of an effective safety culture
Participate in staff selection provide or coordinate staff training and coaching and implement any necessary corrective actions
Confer with claims staff on legal issues affecting the Countys exposure to risks
Maintain communications with professional organizations in risk management safety and environmental fields
Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Successful candidates must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona drivers license by the time of hire
This position is eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period
Exerting 20 - 25 pounds occasionally 10 - 25 pounds frequently or up to 10 pounds constantly
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures wetness/humidity respiratory hazards and noise and vibration
Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts vibrations fumes odors dust poor ventilation chemicals oils extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions intense noises and travel
The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities the employee may be exposed to loud noise noxious odors unsanitary conditions chemicals electricity moving mechanical parts varying weather conditions and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: fumes odors dust mists gases or poor ventilation
