Canteen is all about supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients we offer programs and resources that truly make a difference for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis supporting a loved one or grieving. Together we believe our team can create real change!

We are now seeking a State Manager WA who will play a pivotal role in leading a high-performing multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality services to young people and families impacted by cancer. They will ensure service delivery across clinical program and engagement areas is of a consistently high standard informed by best practice and responsive to the evolving needs of service users.

This role sets and implements strategic direction in alignment with national priorities fosters a culture of collaboration and accountability and oversees state-based service operations alongside key national portfolios. This includes national responsibility for the Education and Career Service (ECS).

About our role

  • Provide day-to-day clinical and operational oversight to the state team prioritising support and development of the team.
  • Provide strategic supervision and guidance to the Team Leader ECS to support a high-performing cohesive national team.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery aligns with best practice meets professional standards and adheres to KPIs is timely and within budget.
  • Develop strategies with senior staff for monitoring and improving clinical service provision and evaluation.
  • Support staff to build effective relationships with relevant external stakeholders such as hospital teams education providers outpatient clinics other cancer support organisations and the wider community sector to build effective care pathways and networks.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Services and the Head of Finance ensure the effective financial and administrative operation of the state and ECS Program including the preparation and use of relevant budgets.

About You

  • A tertiary qualification in allied health (psychology social work counselling or OT) is essential.
  • 8 years sector experience.
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary psychosocial teams with demonstrated ability to develop an effective team culture and high performance.
  • High level experience and knowledge of best practice in providing clinical services and programs to vulnerable young people and families
  • Proven experience in building effective relationships with external stakeholders to drive organisational awareness and service growth.
  • Confident networking with general community as well as corporate government health and school professionals
  • Strong problem-solving and project-planning skills with the ability to see projects through
  • Ability to prepare and present information in a clear and logical way and to deliver it with confidence.
  • Warm compassionate and friendly approach to supporting our young people
  • Working with Children Check current Australian drivers licence and Covid-19 vaccination.

Employment Expectations

To ensure an ongoing commitment to the success of Canteen all applications must be able to:

  • Successfully complete and maintain a current National Police Check and Working with Child Check relevant to the individuals state jurisdiction.
  • Undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment to guarantee the safety of all Canteens stakeholders.
  • Provide at least two direct referees to ensure a successful reference check is completed.
