In addition to the current opening this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Parks Works Program Manager vacancies within the Parks Division over the next six months.


The King County Parks Department is seeking a Parks Works Program Manager to lead a new Parks Works Program. KC Parks is creating a Parks Works Program that will provide 18 months of county employment to individuals who are currently experiencing homelessness or are at risk of entering the homelessness system. This program is designed to stabilize peoples lives by providing a county-supported job with the goal of helping people progress to getting a permanent job securing permanent housing and exiting the homeless system.

About the Role:

In this role you will support implementing elements of a $5 million program scaled to deliver employment and housing opportunities. The position will require strong project management communication and results-oriented skills to help ensure program success and provide a cohesive experience for the new County employees. Specifically this position will assist in developing the Parks Works Program collaborate with community partners and support participants in navigating employment and housing services.

Job Duties

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Support the development and implementation of program providing employment career support and housing support to individuals in the homelessness system. Provide management and coordination of the employment portion of the program.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to seek alternate funding sources including grant applications. Administer contracts for career support and housing services. Monitor and ensure accurate invoicing and reporting.
  • Monitor scope schedule and budget of program and report results. Draft external correspondence for supervisor or management.
  • Coordinate services such as facilitating access to transportation and supplies in support of the programs participants. Support job matching system or contract for these services.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including county departments such as Human Resources Community and Human Services as well as community groups and organizations in support of program objectives.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Qualifications You Bring:

  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and navigating support services.
  • Progressive experience in project or program management including a proven track record of independently managing complex projects or programs while meeting deadlines and delivering results in dynamic environments.
  • Strong facilitation and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Equity and Social Justice principles and practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse constituencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel Word Outlook SharePoint Teams) and shared file management software.

Physical Requirements:

This job requires the ability to work travel to and walk in internal and external work areas within the Parks system. Those work areas expose the selected individual to uneven slopes surfaces grades and terrain in varying weather conditions with or without accommodations.

  • Experience working in a Parks work setting.
  • Experience working with WorkSource or other similar work support programs.

  • Work Location:Marymoor Park 6046 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy NE Redmond WA 98052.
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
  • Union Representation: This position is represented by PROTEC Local 17.
