Position Summary
We are looking for a driven and motivated Finance Intern with a basic understanding of finance and accounting principles and terms to support our Accounting FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) and Procurement teams. This internship offers hands-on experience across core finance functions giving exposure to compliance budgeting reporting and vendor management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented eager to learn and ready to contribute to a dynamic organization.
The Finance Intern is expected to work directly under the supervision of the Associate Director but will report to and assist other members of the Finance team and provide outstanding services to internal business partners.
Job Responsibilities
Accounting Support
Assist with journal entries reconciliations and month-end close activities
Support accounts payable by reviewing and processing vendor invoices purchase orders and employee expense reports
Preparing financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements
Help maintain accurate financial records and documentation
Supporting various projects/requests related to the Financial Accounting area as needed
FP&A Support
Assist in preparing monthly reporting packages variance analyses as well as ad-hoc financial models
Support forecasting and planning activities through finance business partnering including data updates and inputs into the planning system
Conduct basic financial analysis and collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed
Work with team members to streamline financial reporting and forecasting process and help improve efficiency through automation and best practices
Procurement Support
Assist with vendor management including onboarding maintenance and purchase order processing
Support contract and invoice reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance
Help track procurement metrics spend trends and cost-saving initiatives
Use procurement system and tools to streamline workflows and enhance data analysis
Evaluate and recommend improvements to procurement policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements
Must be currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration or related field
Must be at least a Junior in college at the time of your application
Positive attitude willingness to learn and a strong sense of responsibility
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to work collaboratively across teams
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Available to work full-time during the summer months (May-August) at an AskBio office
Preferred Education Experience and Skills
Prior internship work or volunteer/extracurricular experience
Familiarity with financial systems (NetSuite Concur Coupa Planful)
