Duties

  • You will pass instructions received from the Facilities Manager for immediate tasks and ensure that all supplies materials and equipment needed to accomplish the task are available.
  • You will serve as the lead trainer for the assigned operator trainee and Marines assigned to water and wastewater system duties.
  • You will operate maintain and repair facilities and equipment in a sequence batch reactor type activated sludge wastewater plant with a design flow if 140000 gallons per day.
  • You will plan schedule and perform work to produce safe and pleasant drinking water and wastewater plant effluent that always meets waste discharge requirements.
  • You will research and order all parts and supplies required to operate and maintenance of the systems.
  • You will monitor the various computer screens to ensure correct plant cycling and to verify that operational parameters are correct for current conditions.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to possess a California Grade 3 Wastewater Plant Operator Certification or higher.
  • You will be required to possess a Grade 1 or higher Water Treatment Plant Operator certification issued by the state of California Department of Health Services Office of Drinking Water.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear respiratory protection devices.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Lead by planning scheduling laboratory maintenance and process control measures as required to accomplish the successful operation of the water and wastewater systems.
