  • POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Groundsperson is responsible for performing grass cutting and assigned duties in the care of grounds.

    They are responsible for snow removal and salting of snow and ice. The Groundsperson is responsible for tree trimming and removal. They are responsible for maintaining trucks and equipment that includes repairing if needed. They are responsible for Athletic Field maintenance and marking. The Groundsperson is responsible for installation and repair of playground equipment. They are responsible for moving and transit of furniture/equipment.

    Salary: Per contract $18.30 - $22.01

    Hours: 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.

    Reports To: Supervisor of Operations

    Status: School Year 2025-26

    Start Date: As Soon As Possible

    Qualifications:

    • Must be knowledgeable and have experience in but not limited to the following:
      1. Properly drive trucks and maneuver all vehicles for such operations as snow removal and grass cutting.
      2. Experience in operating but not limited to tractors dump trucks hydraulic platforms welding and torches.
      3. Shall be mechanically inclined and able to make repairs to equipment.
      4. Shall possess knowledge and experience in tree cutting and operation and care of chain saw.
    • Due to the nature of the job applicants must have a good health record and attendance record.
    • Shall be able to demonstrate ability by successfully completing a manual skills test.
    • Shall have good work habits and be able to establish and maintain a relationship with other employees supervisor working leader and the public.
    • Shall be required to possess a Commercial Drivers license (CDL) with endorsement.
    • Must be willing to work overtime especially during snow season.

    Essential Functions:

    • Maintain written records/reports as required.
    • Moving and transit of furniture/equipment.
    • Snow removal salting of snow and ice.
    • Tree trimming and removal.
    • Maintain trucks and equipment including repairing if needed.
    • Athletic field maintenance and marking.
    • Installation and repair of playground equipment.
    • All duties that involve grounds keeping and grounds maintenance.
    • Perform repairs through the work order system.
    • Perform daily pre-trip inspection on all equipment.
    • Concrete installation and repair.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.











    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects tools or controls; and give and receive oral and written instructions. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat stoop or kneel reach above the head and reach forward. The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp tools and rungs of ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.

    The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds including cleaning supplies pails and bags/boxes. Occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 80 pounds including bags of salt and furniture. The employee will sometimes push or pull items such as tables bleachers scrubbing machines etc. This job requires close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
