Job Description

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounts payablefunction across multiple entities. This role requires a strong people leader with provenexperience in process improvement systems integration and supporting business growth throughacquisitions. The successful candidate will ensure accurate timely and compliant processing ofpayables while building a scalable AP operation aligned with organizational growth.


Task & Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead mentor and develop a team of accounts payable professionals across multiple
    locations and entities
  • Foster a collaborative high-performance culture focused on accuracy efficiency and
    accountability
  • Establish clear performance expectations training plans and succession planning within
    the AP team
  • Provide excellent support to the Branch Leaders and Branch Network ensuring that
    support and enablement of the Branches are a primary focus for the team



Accounts Payable Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end accounts payable processes including invoice processing coding
    approvals payment runs and vendor maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls company policies and applicable regulatoryrequirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships and resolve complex or escalated payment issues.
  • Monitor cash flow impacts related to payables and optimize payment timing whereappropriate.
  • Accuracy of cost posting to branches projects service orders ensuring the best supportto Branch and Customer / Project / Service Order profitability
  • Multi-Entity & Acquisition Support.
  • Manage AP activities across multiple entities ensuring consistency whileaccommodating entity-specific requirements.
  • Support the integration of newly acquired companies into standardized AP processes andsystems.
  • Assess existing processes in acquired entities and lead transition plans and change management to align with corporate standards.
  • Process Improvement & Systems. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation standardization andbest practices.
  • Lead or support AP-related system implementations upgrades and integrations.
  • Develop and maintain documented AP policies and procedures.
  • Reporting & Collaboration. Prepare and analyze AP metrics aging reports and KPI dashboards.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance Operations and Procurement teams to support businessobjectives.
  • Assist with month-end quarter-end and year-end close activities including audit support



Qualifications

  • 7 years of progressive accounts payable experience with at least 2 years in a leadershipor managerial role.
  • Experience managing accounts payable in a multi-entity or multi-location environment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting company growth through acquisitions or business
    integration.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards sales taxes (GST/HST/PST)
    and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems; system implementation or optimization
    experience is an asset.
  • Strong leadership coaching and team development skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage change and thrive in a fast-paced growing organization.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
