Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic

• You will repair and overhaul brake systems including mechanical hydraulic direct air and vacuum over hydraulic.
• You will repair and overhaul front end drive axels and replace their components.
• You will repair and overhaul single speed two speed and positive traction axles.
• You will replace related components parts including pressure plates discs release bearings and sleeves.
• You will rebuild install and adjust water pumps shutters and shutter slate replace thermostats temperature indicators and radiators.

• You must be able to obtain and maintain a current Virginia Class B Commercial Drivers License with air brake endorsement certification within 6 months.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience not necessarily the length of time.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to do the work of the position without normal supervision performing common tasks including using a wide variety of tools gauges and electronic devices to repair overhaul and install mechanical hydraulic and electrical components and to diagnose all type of malfunctions.
