Duties

At the entry level of this position you will:

  • Perform budget execution support duties within assigned organizations or programs.
  • Participate in reviews edits and consolidations of the annual and multi-year budget estimates for assigned organizations or programs into a single budget request.
  • Verify relative costs and benefits of alternative program plans.
  • Identify and analyze basic trends in the receipt obligation or expenditure of funds.

NOTE: Career ladder promotions are not automatic and all eligibility and qualifications requirements must be met in order to progress to the next grade level.

This position is designated as ModerateRisk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management you must undergo a background investigation. All conditions of the pre-employment security process must be met before an official letter of employment can be issued with a report for duty date.

You must meet time in grade requirements no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for the GS-09 level you must have one of the following:

  • 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level defined asadvising stakeholders on the submission of annual budget request; monitoring budgetary obligations and expenditures identifying and preparing reports on differences between spending and projected estimates.
  • masters or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D. if related; the education must provide the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
  • equivalent combination of education and experience

You will be assessed on the following competencies:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
