Job Summary

SUMMARY

The Common Support Equipment Technician diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Common Support Equipment (CSE); inspects and approves completed maintenance actions; solves repair problems by studying drawings wiring diagram schematics Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals technical publications and maintenance actions. The Technician uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends analyze equipment requirements and document maintenance actions. The Technician analyzes diagnoses and repairs CSE using conventional and digital multi-meters voltmeters ohmmeters oscilloscopes and hand tools. Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses test equipment and technical maintenance data sources. The Technician performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on CSE by inspecting testing and operating CSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. Services equipment with required fluids such as oil water coolant hydraulic fluid refrigerant and compressed air. The Technician also performs removal disassembly repair cleaning corrosion treatment re-assembly and installation of malfunctioning CSE accessories and components. As well as stenciling and marking CSE storing handling labeling using and disposing of hazardous materials and hazardous waste. The Technician prepares CSE for preservation and mobility deployment. The Technician operates cleans inspects and services all assigned support equipment to include towing vehicles such as Bobtail Ford trucks Tow Tractors (Tug) and U-30 aircraft tow addition to performing inspections and maintenance the technician practices good housekeeping Tool Control Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs diagnosis and corrective actions disassembles inspects evaluates and accomplishes necessary repairs according to publication/technical instructions and technical directives on all required support equipment. Determines requirements for repairs modifications and part replacements. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.
  • Reviews interprets and applies the assigned maintenance manual procedures in support of assigned maintenance actions. Applies practical knowledge of wiring schematics and the interpretation of technical data contained within those schematics and/or sources of maintenance data.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers maintenance manuals service bulletins technical data engineering data and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Performs O I and authorized commercial repair of all CSE Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and Palletized Systems Equipment (PSE) in accordance with the KAF 4790.2 and applicable maintenance manuals.
  • Performs scheduled unscheduled and other hourly or calendar inspections in accordance with the KAF 4790.2 and applicable publications.
  • Troubleshoots repairs reworks and maintains hydraulic pneumatic mechanical and electrical systems. Removes adjusts repairs and replaces/re-installs functional components and incorporates applicable technical directives and bulletins.
  • Ensures the accurate entry of data into the locally used computer database system to document maintenance actions monitor maintenance trends analyze equipment requirements and maintain equipment records.
  • Analyzes diagnoses and repairs CSE using conventional and digital multi-meters voltmeters ohmmeters frequency counters oscilloscopes circuit card testers transistor testers and hand tools.
  • Uses Hazardous Materials such as chemical sealants oil hydraulic fluid transmission fluid etc. Performs proper handling and disposal of chemicals and petroleum products required during maintenance.
  • Uses illustrated parts breakdowns (IPB)s to determine material requirements research associated part numbers and requisitions repair parts materials and consumable supplies through supply system.
  • Performs close tolerance adjustment repair and rework of equipment in and out of shop area.
  • Services inspects and tests aviation support equipment used for direct and indirect aircraft support.
  • Troubleshoots inspects services tests and conditions storage batteries to include lead-acid gel and sealed type.
  • Performs Corrosion Control/Prevention Preservationandde-preservation of Support Equipment (SE).
  • Performs general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s) shop(s) maintenance facility to provide a clean safe and FOD free environment.
  • Conduct off station maintenance when required.
  • When necessary performs other duties and supervisory functions critical to the function of the program and to ensure compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to adhere to and comply with all Kuwaiti Labor and Immigration requirements.
  • Must be United States (U.S.) citizen have a high school diploma or equivalent be able to read write and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to obtain a United States Passport. If you currently possess a United States Passport and it must have at least 24 months of time remaining before expiration.
  • Five years of hands-on aviation ground support equipment maintenance experience preferred. A combination of formal education technical schools and practical experience may be substituted.
  • Have a strong knowledge base of aviation maintenance procedures (safety tool control HAZMAT Inspection programs Administrative requirements support equipment calibration/torque procedures).
  • Must be willing to administrate maintain and manage maintenance programs (ex. Tool Control HAZMAT FOD MetCal etc) as required by local policies.
  • Must be able to obtain / maintain the following required certifications / qualifications:

-Applicable Support Equipment licensing

-I Level & O Level Tire & Wheel certification

-Hydraulic Contamination certification

-Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) qualification

  • Must be willing and able to deploy off-site as required to support Kuwait Air Force operations.
  • Must be able to work day shift night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance repair team as required.
  • Have a strong knowledge base of Intermediate Level Maintenance business procedures.
  • Must have a current civilian drivers license and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line drivers license.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of technical orders/job guides/publicationsread interpret follow and comprehend schematic diagrams drawings charts and technical publications.
  • Must be able overcome cultural differences and to think outside the box innovate and provide solutions to the many complex problems and obstacles associated with international contracting and desert climate operations.
  • Must have a working knowledge (input and extract data) of computers.
  • Must be willing and able to work with job required hazardous materials.
  • Must be willing and able to conduct specialty on the job training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental conditions are diverse and could range anywhere from an office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes in temperature less than adequate lighting dust and wind. On occasion individuals may be required to work in areas where high noise hazards will prevail and hearing protection is required.
