Job Summary
Are you an experienced solid mechanics engineer looking to work with advanced aerospace technology At GKN Aerospace in Trollhättan you will be part of a strong engineering community contributing to the development analysis and support of critical components for aircraft engines and space applications.
About the Company
GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace a global aerospace company that manufactures engine components aircraft structures cabin windows wiring systems and much more for many of the worlds aircraft.
The companies within the Aerospace division that work with aircraft engine components together form the Engines business. At the Trollhättan site advanced components for aircraft engines and space launch vehicles are developed and manufactured and the site also performs engine maintenance activities.
GKN Aerospace has production facilities in Trollhättan Kongsberg (Norway) Mexico and the United States. The company also has an engineering office in Bangalore India as well as offices in Stockholm (Public Affairs) and Gothenburg. The headquarters for the Engines business is in Trollhättan.
The Engineering function is where we at GKN Aerospace work together to develop new products and maintain current ones. To fulfill this we work closely with research production and customers. We are a large community of solid mechanics engineers and our combined skills make us a world-class player in the mechanical engineering of aerospace engine products.
Your Responsibilities
As part of the Engineering function at GKN Aerospace you will work in a collaborative environment where new products are developed and existing ones are continuously improved. You will be part of a strong community of solid mechanics engineers working closely with research production and customers to deliver world-class aerospace engine solutions.
In this role you will:
Contribute your solid mechanics expertise in one or two multidisciplinary product teams supporting product development production and technology initiatives.
Perform advanced analyses such as fatigue life strength and stability assessments of engine components under various operating conditions.
Take responsibility for analyses required to justify components that deviate from the intended design and clearly communicate conclusions to stakeholders.
Support method development and continuous improvement initiatives together with method specialists.
Your Profile
We are looking for an experienced solid mechanics engineer with a masters degree in applied Mechanics or a related field. You have a strong analytical mindset and enjoy working with complex technical challenges.
You bring:
Extensive experience in solid mechanics analysis and verification of jet engine components including fatigue life strength and stability analysis weld analysis and additive manufacturing considerations.
Strong ability to draw conclusions from analyses and communicate them clearly both verbally and in writing.
Proven experience with ANSYS and other FEA tools as well as complex coding or scripting tasks.
An interest in developing sharing and maintaining knowledge within a discipline team.
This position is based in Trollhättan Sweden as such you should be able to gain the right to live and work in Sweden. Travel to other locations within Sweden as well as EU is expected.
The position requires that you undergo and are approved in accordance with the applicable regulations for security clearance. For roles where GKNs customer requires security classification this may where applicable entail a requirement for specific citizenship.
