These ranges reflect what BNSF Railway reasonably expects to pay for this position based on the roles level scope and responsibilities. Final compensation and position level will be determined by factors such as job-related skills experience and relevant education or addition to base pay and bonus eligibility BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.
The BNSF Railway Law and Claims Department provides expert in-house counsel and collaborates with outside counsel to ensure the railroad operates safely and meets all legal and contractual obligations. Our licensed attorneys and legal professionals are dedicated to upholding the highest legal compliance standards. Additionally our specialized Claims team promotes safety investigates incidents and resolves them ethically.
This is a full-time position located in Everett WA.
Key responsibilities may include:
Implementprocesses and procedures under direction of leadership
Cooperateandcoordinatewith Claims personnel on adjacent territories.
Performthorough and ethical investigationsto resolve exposures in a fair honest andresponsible manner.
Assistattorneys and paralegalsin preparation and trial of lawsuits.
Evaluatesettlements of claims and lawsuits within proper authority.
Workcloselywith all BNSF departments to perform incident investigations/analyses andpromote the Claims departments vision statement.
Engagewith a variety of external contacts: local counsel state county and cityofficials law enforcement personnel physicians medical specialists and expert consultingwitnesses in specialized fields.
Observeandreviewpotential liabilitieson company property with respective non-claims field personnel.
Conductinvestigationsin various weather conditions.
Work irregular hoursandavailable 24/7 for on-call duties with frequent evening nightand weekend shifts (including holidays).
Daily work is conducted in a mixed indoor office and outdoor safety-sensitive environment where working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot cold rain snow and sleet) walking and performing work on uneven surfaces and working around loud noises fumes and heavy/moving machinery. Personal protective equipment a hard hat safety glasses and gloves are required and provided by BNSF

Basic Qualifications:
Able to work now and in the future without BNSFs assistance (whether monetary through sponsorship or otherwise) in obtaining maintaining or extending employment authorization (including H-1B STEM OPT/CPT or TN nonimmigrant status).
Bachelors Degree
Minimum 1 year experience at BNSF or in a Transportation-related field (Railroad claims railroad insurance legal investigative) or a combination thereof.
Preferred Qualifications:
General knowledge of railroad operations and principles and/or insurance claims or related medical/legal field.
Knowledge and understanding of Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA).
