The Hershel Woody Williams VAMC is a fully accredited 80-bed acute medical and surgical care facility offering primary care outpatient mental health services and subspecialty outpatient care. VA staffed community-based outpatient clinics are in Charleston West Virginia and Prestonsburg addition outreach clinics are in Gallipolis Ohio and Lenore West Virginia.
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until April 17 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be October 30 2025 with subsequent cut-off date every two weeks.
The VAMC also offers services to homeless Veterans through the Community Resource and Referral Center located in downtown Huntington near community resources. A standalone Womens Health Clinic on campus provides comprehensive health care services to our female patients. Extensive use of community resources as well as contract community nursing homes for post-hospitalization care complement our Medical Centers treatment programs.
This Medical Center is the principal teaching facility for the Marshall University School of Medicine for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
