Job Summary
Summary
This position is located at West Point Club.
Incentives and Bonuses
- Incentives will not be paid.
- Sets up bars for operation obtains cash bank and stocks service bar. Assures an adequate stock level is maintained sets up storeroom and work area to permit easy access to stock items.
- Prepares a limited variety of simple alcoholic beverages as requested by patrons and wait staff.
- Records sales and makes change or prepares charge slips. Keeps bar and work area clean and sanitary.
- Identifies persons who become unruly or who appear intoxicated resolves the problem or seeks assistance in accordance with established procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Conditions of employment
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- A Medical Examination is required; physical effort includes regularly lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds standing for prolonged periods.
- This position is dual compensation exempt; All GS and NAF employees whether full time or part time are eligible to apply for this position.
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours of initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours annual refresher training.
- Work hours may involve weekday weekend holiday and night duty.
- This position is eligible to receive gratuities (tips) based on the type of event(s) and performance.
Qualifications
Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicants relevant experience skills knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
A qualified candidate must possess the following:
1. Meet state/local age requirements for the serving of alcoholic at the time of appointment.
2. Be able to lift and carry weights up to 20 pounds.
3. Possess math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory.
4. Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
It is recommended the above abilities be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position.
Skill and Knowledge: Skill in mixing drinks using alcoholic beverages beer and soda. Applies arithmetic in calculating bills and making change. Ability to recognize intoxicated and unruly patrons.
In addition to the above qualifications candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered Highly Preferred or Best Qualified:
1. Prior experience working as a full-service bartender in a restaurant and/or catering facility.
The experience must be reflected on your resume at the time of application to be considered a highly preferred candidate.
Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official. All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection.

Note: Candidates with Special Qualifying Skills and Experience may be brought in higher than the Step 1 rate of pay determined by the Hiring Manager.

PCS Costs
- Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Governments interest.
- This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time regular part-time and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
- Non-foreign overseas allowances cost of living (COLA) and differentials will not be paid contingent upon eligibility.
