Assistant Professor: Annual Minimum Salary-$105000-Annual Maximum Salary-$176400
Associate Professor: Annual Minimum Salary-$120800-Annual Maximum Salary-$202900Professor: Annual Minimum Salary-$138800-Annual Maximum Salary-$233200Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Doctor of Physical Therapy Doctor of Dental Medicine Master of Science in Biomedical Science and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five-state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima WA a city of approximately 95000 located in the south-central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. The assistant/associate professor will teach assigned courses and lectures as needed in the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MBS) curriculum. Content areas of instruction may include but are not limited to public health community health healthcare systems and infrastructure equity in healthcare practice patient-provider communication interprofessional practice and education (IPE) epidemiology biomedical ethics healthcare communication standardized test taking and assessment research methods research ethics and human subjects communication. The incumbent will contribute to the universitys commitment to the advancement of knowledge and intellectual growth by engaging in scholarly activity. The incumbent will also contribute to the University through active participation on committees and other activities required to maintain and develop the mission and goals of the addition they will develop meaningful mentoring relationships with students for academic and career advising.
Essential Job Functions:
Teaching
Teach broadly in the content areas of discipline.
Develop course materials in specialized areas of expertise including writing course syllabi and developing appropriate instructional and assessment methods
Provide instructional support such as guest lectures or presentations in MBS courses taught by other MBS instructors
Meet all classes as scheduled and report grades at designated time
Use the PNWU student information system student learning platform and student assessment platform
Enhance expertise in teaching content areas through continuing education practice and current literature reviews
Participate in ongoing curriculum and program assessment and development
Maintain professional licensures and certifications as appropriate
Required Skillsets:
Qualified to be the lead instructor responsible for all aspects of course management in at least three (3) of the following academic areas:
o Research and Biostatistics
o Standardized test taking and assessment
o Public and community health
o Epidemiology
o Biomedical ethics
o Healthcare communication
Scholarly and Creative Activities
Engage in scholarly activity and maintain an active research agenda
Disseminate research through appropriate mechanisms
Supervise and mentor student research
Maintain professional development in area of research expertise
University and Community Service
Advise students in accordance with the university advising policies and procedures
Assist with the recruitment and admission of students
Attend university/program events including student orientation and commencement activities
Perform committee assignments at the program or university level
Perform community service as appropriate
University-wide Essential Functions
Understand maintain the accreditation standards upon which the MBS program was established
Conduct self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
Other duties as assigned (perform and report any other assigned duties for the program)
Education:
Required: A Doctorate Degree as recognized by United States accrediting associations or appropriate terminal degree (i.e. standards established by recognized United States accrediting associations)
Preferred: Post-doctoral research experience
Experience:
Preferred: Experience teaching at an institution of higher education or teaching graduate students in a healthcare setting such as a hospital clinic or public/government health agency
