Job Overview Tekberry is seeking a Telecommunications Attendant I (Trainee) to support our this role you will serve as a primary point of contact for inbound calls supporting the University Medical Center and affiliated entities. This position plays a critical role in emergency communications call routing paging and customer service in a fast-paced high-volume call center environment.

Key Responsibilities -
Answer process page and route incoming calls for faculty staff students and the Medical Center.

Provide directory listings and connect callers to departments physicians patients or staff.

Page Medical Center doctors and staff and announce pages as required.

Dispatch emergency response teams for medical safety and facility-related alerts (e.g. cardiac arrest trauma fire chemical spills police emergencies).

Support off-hours operations for Stanford University entities.
-
Utilize call center and collaboration systems to ensure first-call resolution.
-
Maintain and update paging and directory databases.
-
Perform administrative tasks including internal reporting documentation and system diagnostics.

Assist with training mentoring and process improvement initiatives.
-
Adhere strictly to safety procedures confidentiality standards and University policies.
Training & Scheduling Must-Have Qualifications -
High school diploma or GED.

4 years of call center experience (university or medical center environment strongly preferred).

Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle high-volume calls.
-
Clear professional telephone etiquette and strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
-
Ability to type 35 50 WPM with accuracy.
-
Experience using phone technology and multitasking across systems.
-
Ability to remain at a console for extended periods (3 hours).
-
Ability to remain calm exercise tact and make sound decisions under pressure.
-
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications -
Experience in a university hospital or medical center call environment.

Familiarity with paging systems and dispatch procedures.

Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows.
-
Experience with MAC or DOS-based systems and console operations.
Physical & Working Conditions -
Constant use of computer telephone and headset.
-
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods without leaving the console.

May be exposed to high-stress situations requiring rapid response.

Required to maintain contact availability during off-hours.
