For more information on the Department of Justice and the United States Attorneys Offices visit The assignments in this position are designed to prepare the incumbent to perform the duties and
responsibilities of the target position. While the major duties and responsibilities are essentially the
same as the target position work assignments are made for developmental purposes and the
employee independently performs limited aspects of the overall assignments. Duties are assigned in
a manner that allow the employee to experience aspects of the higher-level assignments without the
requirement for the higher-level knowledge and skills expected at the full performance level.

If selected for this position you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for various support services within the Administrative Division. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Enters obligations amendments delivery and all actions into the official financial system.
  • Monitors and tracks obligations and expenditures for the district. Verifies that obligations and expenditures occur on a timely basis in accordance with regulatory controls and within the amounts programmed.
  • Develops procurement plans by reviewing previous history and market conditions.
  • Analyzes support services processes and procedures.
  • Coordinates a variety of facility maintenance and/or repair activities for
    USAO workspaces.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

To be eligible at the GS-9 level you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions as defined below: Specialized Experience Education OR a Combination of Education and Experience.

Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level.

Specialized experience is defined as experience performing applications commonly used budget and finance principles practices and methods to perform a range of routine budget execution formulation financial reporting and
internal control functions which support the districts financial management -depth knowledge of the federal budget cycle including DOJ EOUSA OMB processes and requirements and extensive knowledge of the sources and types of funding available to support district activities and programs. Knowledge of and skill in using the DOJ automated financial management systems to enter district financial data track funds and develop reports.

Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g. Criminal Justice Law):a Masters or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LLB. or J.D.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification order to qualify based on a combination graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.

GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions as defined below: Specialized Experience Education OR a combination of Education and Experience.

Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level.

Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing detailed intensive knowledge of the policies precedents goals objectives regulations and guidelines of budget formulation and execution sufficient to analyze and evaluate continual changes in program plans and funding and their effect on financial and budget program -depth knowledge of the Federal budget cycle including DOJ EOUSA OMB and Congressional budget processes and requirements and extensive knowledge of the sources and types of funding available to support district activities and programs. Thorough knowledge of the USAO organizational structure functions program strategic goals
and administrative requirements.

Selective Placement Factor: A selective placement factor is determined to be essential for successful performance in this position. Those candidates who do not meet the following selective placement factor will be rated not qualified for the position.
