Duties

Provide customer service technical assistance and support for users. Assist customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instructions. Analyze manage and direct installation of any new hardware and software introduced into the environment to ensure its compatibility with existing architecture its reliability and functionality in relation to the organizations business requirements. Perform system audits to assess security parameters and performance of AI controls within the network environment.

If selected for this position you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for serving as a district Information Technology (IT) Specialist responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving three or more IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorneys office (USAO). Typical work assignments will include:

  • A wide variety of information technology support assignments to meet.
    USAO information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities.
  • Maintains and controls districts computer equipment inventory.
  • Ensures the confidentiality integrity and availability of systems networks and data through the planning analysis development implementation maintenance and enhancement of information systems security programs policies procedures and tools.
  • Promotes awareness of security issues among management and employees . Implements programs to ensure users are aware of understand and adhere to systems security policies and procedures.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-11 Level MUST possess at least 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level; experience education or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment; experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

GS-12 Level Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing Information Technology systems to identify anticipate and resolve performance availability capacity or configuration problems for government organizations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Selective Placement Factor: A selective placement factor is determined to be essential for successful performance in this position. Those candidates who do not meet the following selective placement factor will be rated not qualified for the position.
