The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) - Community Living Center (CLC) is a Registered Nurse (RN) who demonstrates the fundamental knowledge of the unit and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses plans implements and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education self-management and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and participating in process improvement initiatives.
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operations of their designated units. They provide coverage for other ANMs as needed. The ANM has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation training development of staff and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance. They function as a role model educator practitioner and supervisor providing leadership to the team. They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
The ANM seeks knowledge from professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. They adhere to ethical principles in decision-making fostering accountability at personal organizational and staff levels. They equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality cost-effective outcomes. They cultivate alliances across the care continuum building trust through active listening engagement and emotional intelligence.
The ANM participates in the development of care delivery models and environmental design ensuring evidence-based accessible affordable and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes participating in strategy planning and execution. They promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organizations vision and mission. The ANM maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards Directives policies and standard operating procedures (SOP).

Physical Requirements: The population of male and female Veterans served ranges from the adult age 18 to the elderly adult age 65 and over. This position requires visual acuity keen hearing clear distinctive speech and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking standing stooping sitting bending pulling and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium dementia or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature flexible sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations able to shift priorities based on patient needs.
