Job Description
Do you enjoy working outdoors learning about trees and making a difference in your community Join Minnetonkas forestry team as a Seasonal Tree Inspector! This hands-on role helps improve our urban forest interact with residents and gain valuable experience in forestry and natural resources. Youll work in a supportive team-oriented environment that values collaboration and meaningful work. Every day is active rewarding and a chance to learn something new while making our community better.
Duties/Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Diagnose and recommend solutions for tree health issues such as oak wilt and Dutch elm disease
- Inspect community trees for safety and risk potential
- Support grant-funded projects focused on ash tree removal and replacement
- Engage with residents providing information about Minnetonkas forestry programs
- Use GIS and asset management tools for mapping and tree inventory tasks
- Assist with tree care activities including planting pruning and maintenance
- Water newly planted trees one day per week to ensure successful establishment

- Knowledge of tree identification and forest health issues
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to take accurate field notes use maps and work independently
- Comfortable working outdoors in summer conditions and walking on varied terrain
- Interested in learning and motivated to grow in your career
- Attention to detail reliability and commitment to safety
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to identify trees and diagnose common pests and diseases including Dutch elm disease and oak wilt
- Must pass the Minnesota State Tree inspector examination within 3 weeks of employment
- Possesses a valid drivers license
Desired Qualifications:
- Education in forestry natural resources or related field
- Field experience in forestry arboriculture or natural resources
- Familiarity with GIS platforms (e.g. ArcPro) or asset management software
- Certified Tree Inspector

Seasonal Details
- Seasonal position summer months (approximately JuneDecember negotiable)
- Full-time 40 hours per week
- Hourly pay no benefits
