Job Summary

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Experienced in providing positive and engaging experiences for the general public tour groups and children

Assets:

  • Class 5 Drivers Licence
  • Outdoor Adventure Sports Experience

Skills required for success:

  • Ability to work safely outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions as well as in safety-sensitive environments
  • Proficiency to lead timed programs that entertain and educate participants while managing multiple tasks effectively and safely
  • Knowledge of physical literacy and recreation program objectives policies and procedures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage program participants collaborate with team members and supervisors
  • Ability to utilize mobile computer tools including Google Workspace (gmail google doc google sheet) for documentation and communication
  • Capable of the safe handling use and maintenance of program materials and equipment
  • Alignment with the City of Edmontons Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( to fostering a culture of equity diversity reconciliation and inclusion

Conditions of Employment:

  • Valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certification
  • Ability to attend spring training April 27 - May 1 2026 (all day each day)
  • Ability to reliably travel to worksites across the city which may vary daily
  • Provides clear work availability and consistently maintains reliable scheduling that meets the needs of the position once hired
  • Hire is dependent upon a satisfactory Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
  • Candidate skills may be tested

Work Environment:

  • Ability to work shifts that are Monday to Friday during school hours.
  • Have transportation to work at various locations in the city starting work as early as 7:00 am and be able to work weekends holidays and evenings as required
  • Physically capable of sustained activity outdoors including navigating slopes unpaved trails working in all weather conditions and handling equipment and supplies such as bicycles and canoes.
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Navigation & Science:

  • Explore orienteering GPS navigation and environmental science through fun interactive challenges.

  • Get outside with cross-country skiing snowshoeing ice biking and kicksledding adventures.

Community Engagement:

  • Direct outdoor day camp adventures fun and flexible drop-in programs and exciting outreach opportunities.
