Cache County is located in the northern part of Utah and bordered by the Wasatch Mountains on the east and a spur of the Wasatch the Wellsville Mountains on the west. RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a position that will perform a wide range of entry level professional law enforcement duties related to enforcement or corrections as needed to secure and maintain a safe environment for county citizens and to protect rights as established by federal state and local laws. Duties include but are not limited to: responding to calls for service patrol residential business and industrial centers; reporting to and investigating accident scenes; prepare arrest records; perform animal rescues respond to calls for service regarding animals domestic and wild; Participate in guarding inmates in county jail or on outside work crews in accordance with established policies regulation and procedures; perform tasks associated with inmate admissions observe inmate behavior and conduct to prevent disturbances and escapes; Transport adult and juvenile inmates to scheduled appearances and appointment and between jail facilities; Serve as an agent of the court in satisfying civil and criminal warrants; perform a variety of full performance security and courtroom processing tasks specific to maintaining courtroom order and insuring adherence to courtroom processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training: High School Diploma or GED plus graduation from P.O.S.T. Academy and must be at least 21 years of age.
Licenses/Certificates: Must have LEO and/or Corrections P.O.S.T. Certification Possession of a valid Utah drivers license and meet eligibility requirements to drive.
Special Qualifications: Must pass extensive background investigation. Must work rotating shift work. Must work on call 24 hours. Must complete 40 hours of training per year to maintain certification.
In addition to the above requirements the successful candidate will possess the following: Knowledge of local state and federal laws such as traffic code juvenile code civil procedures and criminal code investigative techniques; some skill in the operation of motor vehicles at high speed and in dangerous situations; Skill in the use of firearms Taser urinary analysis machine ASP radio restraints computer etc.; Ability to apply modern law enforcement principles procedures techniques and equipment in various law enforcement situations; learn and interpret the civil and criminal code related to law enforcement and the elements of crime; demonstrate knowledge of how to react in emergency situations; demonstrate problem solving capability; ability to enforce laws and ordinances with tact and impartiality; follow established safety practices and procedures common to law enforcement work; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; develop effective working relationships with the public and fellow employees; perform work requiring good physical condition.
