Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated hiring salary is $175000 - $195000 per year and is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical dental and vision plans membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) sick and vacation time and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Vice President for Administration/CFO the Associate Vice President for Human Resources (AVP/HR) provides senior leadership and line management for the Universitys Human Resources (HR) operations. The AVP/HR has broad responsibilities for HR policy development administration interpretation implementation and evaluation of the effectiveness of the policy/program objectives. The AVP/HR maintains a collaborative partnership with the AVP for Faculty Affairs for many HR activities. The AVP/HR advises the President Provost and Vice Presidents on all HR matters including recruitment compensation performance management employee and labor relations and a wide variety of regulatory program compliance. The AVP/HR oversees the provision of HR services in support of the Athletic Corporation.

Areas of responsibility include Payroll Services Benefits Classification & Compensation Talent Acquisition & Management HR Consultation Workers Compensation & Ergonomics ADA Administration Organizational Development Labor & Employee Relations Employee Assistance Program Performance Management Record Retention HRIS & Operations and HR Regulatory Programs & Compliance. The incumbent also serves as the campus ADA Administrator.

  • Proven track record of inspiring and managing a diverse professional staff in a multi-functioning unit with a strong commitment to customer service.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related field such as Human Resource Management Labor Relations or similar field.
  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management labor relations equal opportunity administration with at least five years of senior leadership in higher education government and/or private industry.
    • Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
      • Professional HR certification(s).
      • A graduate degree in Human Resource Management Labor Relations Equal Opportunity Administration or a similar area or a Juris Doctorate degree.
      • Demonstrated experience supporting the human resources functions of an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level.
      • Higher education experience.
