The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for developing implementing and maintaining programs that ensure a safe healthy and environmentally responsible workplace. This role supports compliance with local state and federal regulations promotes continuous improvement in EHS performance and fosters a culture of safety throughout the organization.
What Youll Do
- Lead site Environmental Health & Safety strategy and serve as the primary EHS subject-matter expert
- Partner with site leadership to prioritize initiatives and drive a strong culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement
- Develop implement and maintain EHS programs to ensure compliance with OSHA EPA NFPA and other regulatory requirements
- Lead audits risk assessments and incident investigations; analyze trends and implement corrective actions
- Evaluate EHS impact of new processes equipment and facility changes to ensure appropriate controls are in place
- Drive environmental sustainability initiatives including waste management and environmental monitoring programs
- Collaborate cross-functionally to embed EHS into daily operations and long-term planning
- Manage EHS budgets and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost improvement
- Monitor performance metrics communicate results and influence stakeholders to deliver measurable EHS outcomes
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering Occupational Health & Safety or related field or equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- Minimum of 6 years in a manufacturing environment or equivalent
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to interpret EHS regulatory requirements and lead programs to meet requirements and bring performance to the next level.
- Experience in dealing with EHS regulators e.g. OSHA. EPA etc.
- Experience in leading cross functional project teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence at all levels.
- Extensive experience in implementing and maintaining EHS management systems.
- Certification such as CSP CIH or CHMM
