Duties

  • Must be able to open/close and work weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
  • Must attend all training and in-service meetings and complete all annual trainings in a timely manner.
  • Must swim regularly and practice rescue skills and first aid/CPR.
  • Must consistently arrive for work on time and in proper uniform as required by Fort Bliss MWR.
  • Must be professional in demeanor and role model good customer service with patrons and personnel.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Lifeguards must have good vision (corrected vision if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies incidents and rule breaking.
  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
  • Work hours may involve weekend weekdays holidays and night duty.
  • Fifteen(15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17 2006).
  • In addition the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • All required certifications must be kept current.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicants relevant experience skills knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess and maintain the following:

  • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard YMCA or ELLIS).
  • American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).
  • First Aid
For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED (American Red Cross).

In addition for facilities that use Oxygen Administration O2 bottles the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross Oxygen Administration or installation offered training (i.e. Fire Dept.) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.

NOTE: The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicants resume and/or supporting documents. A copy of all documents must be submitted at the time of application.

PCS Costs

Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Governments interest.

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized only regular (full-time part-time limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
