Job Summary
Summary
Serves as a Public Area Custodial Worker in the Housekeeping Department of the Hale Koa Hotel.
Local candidates will be reviewed first as PCS is not authorized. If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded all candidates will be considered.
This is an open continuous announcement for recruitment needs in 2026. Resumes are valid for 3 months; to remain eligible you must reapply every 3 months.
Cleans rooms corridors stairways and other areas. Sweeps mops vacuums scrubs strips and polishes using light and heavy duty powered equipment. Operates industrial equipment to clean rugs drapes etc. Performs routine maintenance of equipment. Cleans disinfects and deodorizes toilet facilities. Cleans and dusts assigned areas. Empties trash. May make beds and changes linen. Washes walls windows blinds and ceiling fixtures using ladders scaffolds and safety belt. Moves heavy furniture. Maintains stock of room and cleaning supplies to perform assigned duties.
Conditions of employment
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required upon appointment
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
- Satisfactory completion of employment verification (E-Verify) check
- One year probationary period may be required
- A physical examination may be required
- Must be able to obtain a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must be able to work weekdays weekends holidays and various hours of the day and week when required.
Qualifications
Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicants relevant experience skills knowledge and abilities (KSAs) as they pertain to this position.
A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Must have the ability to follow instructions and read signs. Must have a basic knowledge of common cleaning solvents cleaning tools and equipment. Must know the proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and must be able to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces. Must be able to troubleshoot make adjustments and perform minor repair and maintenance of equipment.
Must have knowledge skills and ability to perform the duties listed above to include the ability to use and maintain the tools and equipment of the trade to keep the assigned work area neat and clean and to communicate both orally and in writing.

Area of Consideration:
- This job is open to candidates who live in this commuting area (the Island of Oahu). If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded all candidates will be considered. If you reside outside of the local commuting area relocation costs will be at your expense.
- Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based upon a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
- This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time regular part-time and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
