EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE:
- No prior experience necessary but must pass 24 hour instruction class
Position Function/Purpose Role and Purpose: To provide a safe learning environment for students teachers and other school personnel by removing Asbestos from district facilities |
essential Functions 1. Provide cleaning activities as required by MISD Asbestos Abatement schedules or O&M schedules. 2. Removes asbestos or asbestos materials in accordance with government rules and regulations on abatement projects as directed. 3. Operates all asbestos respiratory and safety equipment in accordance with government rules and regulations on projects as directed. 4. Pass annual medical exams as required to maintain an asbestos worker license. 5. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Environmental Foreman or Director of Facility Design and Construction Services. 6. Repair replace or install carpet tile VCT and ceiling tiles

Qualification Requirements Minimum Certification/Education: Make applications to register as an asbestos worker in the State of Texas Good physical condition and have no respiratory problems Must have a respirator fit test administered by a competent person Attend and pass a 24 hours of instruction 8 hours of which must be hands on training Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of Asbestos removal equipment Minimum Experience: No prior experience necessary but must pass 24 hour instruction class |

- Climbing reaching overhead
- Use of arms and legs
- Breath with mechanical respirator
- Must stay in contained areas for long periods of time

Equipment used - Standard maintenance tools and specialized equipment in Asbestos Abatement Mold Remediation and Environmental Services
- Artificial breathing devices as required by job need and government regulations
- Ladders lifts etc.
- Use of personal protective equipment including Tyvek coveralls ear protection eye protection and all types of respirators
- MISD standard pickup van bobtail truck trailer or other similar vehicle as assigned
- Standard hand tools and equipment
- Office computer and district supported software

Work Environment The environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Outside and inside Dust high heat and high moisture water Silica Asbestos Mold etc. Working on ladders or scaffolding Protracted or irregular hours of work Work in tight or confined spaces attics tunnels etc. Must work in an EPA containment environment |
