ORAL CHEMO PHARMACY TECH
SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist assists in the provision of pharmaceutical care to various customers by verifying the medication packaging process and outcomes. Practices within the scope of state and federal regulations.
ENVIRONMENT:
This position is M-F 8 hour days. No weekends nights or holidays. The team is very dedicated and supportive of each other. The position will be split between two of our busiest locations - Boise and Nampa.
This position is responsible for helping patients get access to care. We manage a panel of >500 patients and our technicians are the folks who make sure patients actually get treatment despite all barriers. Our technicians manage prior authorizations financial assistance and specialty pharmacy communication. We dont dispense medications from this team so its all office work.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician required.
Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Tech with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy or Oregon Board of Pharmacy based on state worked.
National Certification (CPhT ExCPT or equivalent) required.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Assists the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions which includes various material resource management dispensing clerical and billing duties.
Ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients. Participates in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities. Understands the limitations to performing certain responsibilities of a registered technician in dispensing medications and remains within the scope of practice. Maintains competency to work in the IV room including performing hazardous compounding.
Provides some functional supervision of technicians. Ensures required departmental functions are completed to provide effective and efficient service. Assists the pharmacist in preparing medications which includes various material resource management dispensing clerical and billing duties.
Precepting duties as required for new hires and technician students. Mentors technicians in learning new tasks.
