Job Summary

Join our multidisciplinary team as an Educational Audiologist and make a tangible impact in a vibrant residential school community. This isnt just a clinical role; its an opportunity to champion accessibility for a diverse student body including those who are Deaf Hard of Hearing Blind and Deaf-Blind. You will lead the way in managing cutting-edge hearing techfrom cochlear implants to advanced FM/DM systemswhile using your expertise to shape Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that truly advocate for the student.

Core Impact Areas

Clinical Responsibilities (40%)

The hands-on medical and diagnostic work required for the role.

  • Provides clinical audiological services including diagnostic testing hearing aid programming and maintenance FM/personal microphone fitting and cochlear implant mapping to the students enrolled at MSDB.

  • Provides audiological services to outpatient children birth to 21 years who are referred to the clinic. These referrals come from physicians speech pathologists school districts other professionals and parents of children who live in Montana.

  • Must be able to work independently and be comfortable evaluating children of all ages with a variety of special needs and multiple-handicapping conditions; including speech and language delay cognitive delay autism physical disabilities medical concerns etc.

  • The audiology clinic provides access to modern testing equipment and verification equipment (Verifit2 GSI Audiostar Pro Flex VRA System and more).

  • As the audiology clinic is in the middle of the school this job is a fascinating opportunity to see some of your patients on a daily basis and to watch them grow and develop.

Reporting and Recommendations (30%)

The administrative and legal documentation necessary for student success.

  • Makes appropriate recommendations supported by audiological evaluation to parents education agencies medical teams etc.

  • Prepare audiological reports and present results and recommendations for Family Service Plans Individualized Education Plans and 504 plans for students and outpatients.

  • Responsible for managing patient referrals clinic scheduling and patient report filing.

Consultation and Professional Development (20%)

Sharing expertise with staff the community and other educational professionals.

  • Serves as a consultant to Outreach staff and the families they serve.

  • Works with school/cottage staff to develop an understanding of hearing loss hearing health and amplification for students by providing in-services for staff.

  • Provide audiological trainings and professional development to Great Falls Public Schools as needed.

  • Community outreach is encouraged you may be asked to participate in community developmental hearing screenings.

Education & Experience:

  • Required: Masters Degree in Audiology. Meet licensure requirements for Montana.

  • Preferred: Doctorate in Audiology.

  • Preferred: Specific experience working with students and staff who are deaf hard of hearing blind visually impaired or deafblind.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Communication: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or a willingness to reach target proficiency levels to foster cooperative relationships with students and staff.

  • Leadership: Ability to handle controversy objectively manage a diverse team and maintain effective relationships with families and stakeholders.

  • Technical: Understanding of basic employment law ADA implications and child development/counseling procedures.
