Peraton is seekingan experienced Surveillance Radar Specialistto support the design integration modernization and sustainment of FAA surveillance systems across the National Airspace System (NAS). This role provides technical leadership and oversight for radar-based and cooperative surveillance systems ensuring performance safety interoperability and operational readiness across both ground-based and aircraft-dependent surveillance ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with primary and secondary radar systems ADS-B and FAA surveillance architectures and has worked closely with TPMs engineers and architects across surveillance networking and communications domains.

In this position you will:

  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support for FAA surveillance and radar systems.

  • Support design analysis and sustainment of primary surveillance radar (PSR) and secondary surveillance radar (SSR) systems.

  • Work with cooperative and non-cooperative surveillance technologies including:

    • ADS-B (Automatic Dependent SurveillanceBroadcast)

    • ASR-7 and ASR-11 airport surveillance radars

    • ARSR (Air Route Surveillance Radar) systems

  • Support integration of surveillance systems with networking and communications infrastructures.

  • Collaborate with Technical Program Managers (TPMs) system engineers network engineers and architects to align designs and deployments.

  • Evaluate system performance coverage accuracy latency and availability.

  • Support ground-based surveillance systems and understand interactions with aircraft-based avionics and transponders.

  • Participate in site surveys system upgrades acceptance testing and operational readiness reviews.

  • Support troubleshooting of radar and surveillance anomalies across hardware software and network interfaces.

  • Ensure compliance with FAA standards safety requirements and operational constraints.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation system diagrams and engineering artifacts.

  • Support modernization initiatives transitioning from legacy surveillance systems to next-generation architectures.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelors degree and 8 years experience or Masters degree and 6 years experience or Associates degree and 10 years years experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years experience.
  • Experience supporting aviation surveillance and radar systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • ADS-B surveillance systems
    • ASR-7 ASR-11 and ARSR radar platforms
    • Primary (PSR) and Secondary (SSR) radar technologies
  • Strong understanding of ground-based surveillance systems vs. aircraft-dependent surveillance.
  • Experience working alongside TPMs engineers and architects in surveillance radar networking and communications domains.
  • Ability to analyze system performance identify risks and support technical resolution.
  • Familiarity with radar signal processing concepts coverage modeling and system performance metrics.
  • Experience managing technical dependencies interfaces upgrades and sustainment.

  • Experience coordinating with vendors like INDRA SAAB.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with FAA systems air traffic control environments or federal modernization programs.
  • Familiarity withNextGen surveillance modernization initiatives.
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Systems Engineering Aerospace Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Certifications such as FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) CCNA Wireless or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of signal processing techniques radar simulation tools or advanced networking technologies.
  • Background in critical infrastructure sustainment or aviation safety standards.
  • Experience with surveillance system integration fusion or tracking systems.

  • Knowledge of communications and networking dependencies supporting radar data transport.

  • Background in systems engineering lifecycle support (requirements design test deployment).

Target Salary Range

$104000 - $166000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position the individuals experience education knowledge skills and competencies as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position employees may be eligible for overtime shift differential and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
