Therefore we seek individuals who believe in our mission and vision; will maintain high expectations for our students both academically and behaviorally; will model our school values of: We seek individuals who will do whatever it takes to ensure that the mission of Libertas Academy is Overview:The High School Special Services Teacher reports to the Dean of Special Services and is responsible for providing rigorous standards-aligned instruction and specialized supports to ensure students meet ambitious academic growth and achievement goals. The teacher develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) delivers specialized instruction through push-in and pull-out services and ensures full compliance with federal and state special education and Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities of the Special Services Teacher include but are not limited to:Maintain high expectations for students academic achievement and conduct Reinforce school-wide rules and expectations Deliver high-quality engaging instruction aligned to math and execute daily lessons that drive student mastery of rigorous and administer a variety of formal and informal assessments to measure students growth and mastery and to evaluate and refine instructionProvide targeted support scaffolds and extensions to meet diverse learners support to meet the needs of all learnersincluding multilingual learners and students with students who are academically at risk and initiate effective intervention strategiesCompliance & Data: maintain legal accurate and confidential student records; perform data collection on behavior and academic performance. IEP Development & Implementation: design write and manage IEPs including setting goals and tracking progressInstruction: Deliver specialized academic instruction in small groups or one-on-one and adapt general education curriculum for students with and enrich subject matter expertise Set ambitious content & academic goals for all student progress using formative and summative a classroom environment that is structured joyful inclusive and grounded in high students with the critical thinking analytical writing and evidence-based reasoning skills that form the foundation of college-level learningEquip students with the skills question interpret and construct argumentsCollaborate closely with fellow teachers and other staff members Participate actively in professional development Build strong relationships with students staff and families Prepare all students for the annual MCAS examParticipate in the Teacher Evaluation ProcessHigh quality teacher preparation; materials printed and aligned to the teacher IPP completed to excellence (exemplar pacing priority questions misconceptions etc)Common Picture - being on time and in correct place for all common picture/hallway postIPP (daily)Grading (weekly)Create/Revise SFMs (weekly)Data prework (bi-monthly)Planning prework (weekly)Unit Unpacking (as needed) Perform other duties as assignedQualifications; Desired Skills and Characteristics:Bachelors Degree requiredMust have a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Special Education or Moderate Disabilities OR take and pass Communications & Literacy Foundations of Reading and Content MTEL (Massachusetts Test of Educator Licensure) within 1 year of employment with LACS.
