Job Summary

About us

The Kowalinski group aims to understand how gene expression is regulated through diverse RNA processing pathways. We investigate emerging concepts in eukaryotic RNA processing including mechanisms of RNA maturation editing and chemical modification in a protist model organism. Our research spans both fundamental mechanistic questions and applied biological challenges.

Your role

As a postdoctoral researcher you will contribute to the structural and biochemical characterization of previously uncharacterized parasitic RNA-processing complexes. You will integrate molecular biology biochemistry computational modelling and structural approaches to uncover mechanistic insights into eukaryotic RNA processing pathways. Your work will involve isolating complexes directly from cell culture as well as using recombinant expression systems or defined mixtures to reconstitute specific functional states. You will characterize these assemblies using cryo-electron microscopy high-resolution imaging biochemistry and biophysics to elucidate how cellular RNA-processing nanomachines function.

You have

The successful candidate is deeply interested in RNA-processing machineries and holds a PhD in Molecular Biology Biochemistry Biophysics Structural Biology or a related discipline. Strong hands-on experience in the integration of structural and molecular biology techniques including cryo-EM purification of macromolecular complexes from recombinant and endogenous sources protein biochemistry and biophysical methods is essential.

An interest in protozoan biology is expected and prior experience with the genetic manipulation of model systems will be considered a strong advantage. Familiarity with complementary methods such as computational structural biology tools mass spectrometry advanced imaging and RNA sequencing methodologies is advantageous.

Excitement for science and discovery strong experimental troubleshooting skills in-depth data analysis abilities out-of-the-box thinking a collaborative mindset excellent communication skills in English and a proven publication record are required. Knowledge of French is not necessary.

Contract length:1 year with the possibility of extension

Application:Please submit a CV with a publication list and a letter of motivation outlining your research interests fit to the lab and long-term plans.
