Job Summary

Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a unique Indigenous Institute recognized by community government and institutions of higher learning as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge. SNP offers postsecondary secondary trades education and training. JOB PURPOSE

TheCareerCentreAssistantis responsible forthe coordination and delivery of front-line career development employment readiness andemployerengagement activities withinthe SNP Career and Employment role exists to ensure learners and community members receive accessible culturally responsive career services that support academic success workforce readiness and sustainable employment outcomes. Key results include effective program coordination strong employer partnershipsaccurateservicedeliveryand reporting aligned with theFedcapcontractand improved employment and career transition outcomes for Indigenous learners and clients.

The Career CentreAssistantis required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff students stakeholders and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching learning and work environment consistent withHodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:nivaluesofGanigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio(Respect and the Good Mind).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Coordination and Delivery of Career Development Services 35%

  • Organizes and delivers career workshops job readiness programming résumé and cover letter support interview preparation and career exploration activities.
  • Coordinates individual and group sessions for students and community clients to support employment readiness and career transitions.
  • Ensures services are culturally responsive and aligned with SNP values and learner needs.
  • Other related duties as required.

Employer Engagement and Opportunity Coordination 20%

  • Develops and maintains relationships with local employers industry partners and community organizations.
  • Coordinates job postings work placements career fairs information sessions and recruitment events.
  • Acts as a liaison between employers and clients to match candidates with employment and training opportunities.
  • Other related duties as required.

Program Administration Tracking and Reporting 20%

  • Maintains accurateclient records service activities and outcome datain accordance withFedcapand SNP reporting requirements.
  • Tracks participation employment outcomes and performance indicators to support contract compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Prepares regular reports and documentation for the Manager Centre for Teaching & Learning and funding partners.
  • Other related duties as required.


Outreach Promotion and Client Engagement 10%

  • Promotes Career and Employment Centre services across SNP campuses community networks and partner organizations.
  • Conducts outreach to increase awareness and participation among students graduates and community members.
  • Supports communication initiatives including workshops presentations and informational materials.
  • Other related duties as required.

General Administration 10%

  • Coordinates scheduling room bookings materials and logistics for programming and employer events.
  • Supports the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Career and Employment Centre including reception coverage as needed.
  • Assists with onboarding clients and connecting them to appropriate services and referrals.
  • Other related duties as required.

Continuous Improvement and Collaboration5%

  • Participates in service planning evaluation and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Employment Counsellor academic departments and community partners to align career services with academic and workforce goals.
  • Other related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Completion of a formal post-secondary college of one to two academic years in Business Office Administration Human Resources Career Services or other related degree certificate or diploma

EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE

Over 1 years and including 3 years of experience in career development employment services workforce development or student support environments including the coordination of career programming and employment readiness working with employment service databases or case management systems coordinating events such as job fairs or employer information sessionsworkshopsand supporting clients through job search and career planning processes is essential.


Organizational / Institutional Experience:

Experience engaging multiple stakeholdersstudents community members employers and internal staffwhile balancing service delivery with administrative responsibilities is important to effectively support the operations of the SNP Career and Employment Centre.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team contributing to a respectful and culturally supportive work environment.

Criminal Record Check

The successful candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Background Check Vulnerable Sector Screening that is satisfactory to Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) prior to the first day of work at Six Nations Polytechnic and an Offence Declaration that is satisfactory to SNP by their first day of employment at Six Nations Polytechnic.
