Job Description
The primary objective of the communications intern position is to capture photography and social media video of Minnetonka recreation programs and role offers hands-on experience in capturing professional-quality images managing media assets and supporting our communications team with creative content. This position will work under the direction of the communications division primarily with the citys recreation department. This is a seasonal summer position (up to 40 hours per week) occurring Monday Friday with evening and weekend hours.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Take photographs and video of recreation events programs and activities for promotional use including website social media publications and more.
- Edit and prepare high-quality images.
- Organize label and maintain digital photo and video storage
- Assist in updating and organizing the citys media asset database.
- Post creative social media content on the citys recreation social media accounts.
- Be reliable assertive and a self-starter.
- Communicate regularly with communications and recreation staff regarding concerns or issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- A commitment to and belief in the organizations shared values.
- A high school diploma and junior or senior college-level coursework in communications digital media media production public relations marketing journalism or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in photography and with DSLR/mirrorless cameras and Adobe Photoshop editing software.
- Strong eye for detail composition and storytelling.
- Organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to work independently and strong problem-solving skills.
- Valid drivers license.
Desired Job Qualifications:
- Photography and photo editing skills (e.g. Adobe Canva or similar tools)
- Experience with Microsoft software file systems and Facebook and/or Instagram.
- Experience in videography and editing software.
