Summary

You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the INSTALLATION SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH DIVISION of NB CORONADO.


Duties

  • You will assess accident prevention programs for compliance with regulatory rules.
  • You will conduct root cause analysis of personal injury and industrial mishaps to identify contributing factors and recommend preventivemeasures.
  • You will interpret safety directives received from higher authority for compliance with local conditions.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing and/or executing the installation safety and occupational health programs for personnel squadrons dependents contractors and visitors to include supported tenant commands; 2) Halting any operation that endangers personnel or property on board the installation; 3) Developing and/or revising installation instructions rules and regulations applicable to industrial explosives safety waterfront and ground aviation operations to ensure requirements are in accordance with regulations; 4) Ensuring a safety management system is in place and/or operational; 5) Ensuring program annual safety and occupational health goals and objectives are established; 6) Managing the safety staffing and/or budget programs in accordance with policy and procedures.

Examples of Qualifying Experience:

Experience in or related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

  • Managing safety or occupational health program elements.
  • Developing and recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management.
  • Applying safety and occupational health laws regulations principles theories practices and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements.
  • Developing safety and occupational health standards regulations practices and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards.
  • Developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency severity and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses.
  • Analyzing or evaluating new and existing jobs processes products or other systems to determine the existence severity probability and outcome of hazards.
  • Designing or modifying workplaces processes products or other systems to control or eliminate hazards.
  • Inspecting or surveying workplaces processes products or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards.
  • Training of workers supervisors managers or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subjects.
  • Work in occupational fields such as industrial hygienist safety engineer fire prevention engineer health physicist and occupational health nurse.
