TITLE: SUMMER SCHOOL COUNSELOR
QUALIFICATIONS:As set by state certification authorities and/orNorth CentralAssociation;School Counselor Certification
REPORTS TO:Principal and/or Assistant Principal
JOB GOAL:To guide students toward the fulfillment of their potentialfor intellectual emotionaland psychological growth andmaturation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated time unlessappropriatePrincipal/Personnel has been notified.
- Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence ofpreparationthatreflect objectives to be achieved.
- Creates an effective classroom environment that is conducive tolearning andappropriate to the maturity and interests of studentswithin the limits of theresources of the district.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculumgoals and inharmony with these goals. Establishes clearobjectives and communicatesthese objectives to students.
- Discerns students needs and refers when appropriate to schoolpersonnelwho can best help with their problems.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication withstudentsand their parents concerning academic and behavioralprogress of assignedstudents.
- Plans curriculum in cooperation with administration that as muchas possiblemeets the individual needs interests and abilitiesof students.
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect studentsequipmentand facilities.
- Assists administration in developing/implementing policies rulesand regulations.
- Attends and participates in faculty and professional activities.
- Completes reports and other school related paperwork withintime and date requested.
- Accepts the responsibility and arrives punctually for activitiesand duties asassigned.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers.
- Upgrades professional growth through one or more of the following:
1. Professional training courses
2. Workshops
3. Seminars
4. Conferences
5. College classes
6. Other professional activities
15. Maintains appropriate emotional control physical health and personalappearance.
16. Performs such other tasks and assumes other tasks andresponsibilities as maybe assigned by the Principal
and/orSuperintendent.
