Position Summary:
As a Global Mobility Specialist you will be at the forefront of transforming the international hiring experience at UHN and support initiatives such as the Canada Leads 100 Challenge Program. You will partner with the business and Talent Acquisition to deliver high-quality effective and consistent support throughout the onboarding process for international new hires. With your experience in all aspects of Canadian immigration regulations including LMIA/LMIA-exempt applications you will be a driving force in empowering and expanding UHNs global workforce. You will also provide advice and support for identified international new hires on various aspects of settling into life in Canada including housing healthcare family services recreation and financial services. Your expertise and dedication will help international new hires feel welcomed and supported making their transition to UHN and Canada a positive and enriching experience.

Duties:

  • Support the Immigration Process: Oversee the immigration process for international candidates and current employees ensuring a smooth and efficient experience from internal approval to application preparation and submission. Provide support and oversight related to immigration assessments (including LMIA/LMIA-exempt OINP and other foreign work programs as they arise) and renewals.
  • Liaise with Clients and Authorities: Communicate effectively with clients (hiring managers) to gather necessary documentation and submit applications to immigration authorities ensuring timely and accurate processing. Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel to navigate the complex legal and government regulations to provide a seamless experience.
  • Facilitate the International Onboarding Experience: Support the unique onboarding and orientation requirements of international hires ensuring a positive and welcoming onboarding experience and addressing their needs and concerns with empathy and efficiency.
  • Assist with Settling in Canada: Help international hires settle into their new life in Canada by providing resources support and guidance on housing local services and community integration.
  • Maintain Internal Records: Oversee the accurate tracking and reporting of all temporary foreign workers at UHN to ensure compliance. 
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert: Serve as the internal expert on immigration laws/policies and immigration and relocation functions providing valuable insights and guidance to both new hires and internal clients (hiring managers etc.).
  • Empower leaders and ensure compliance: Create processes for leaders to monitor changes in employment status job title location and salary and take necessary actions. Act as an internal auditor for mobility and immigration practices ensuring legal compliance and maintain accurate records
  • Build Relationships: Maintain strong relationships with candidates providing excellent customer service and ensuring their satisfaction throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Continuously update your knowledge of laws regulations global mobility trends and best practices through ongoing development and networking.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Human Resources) or a Bachelors degree and equivalent experience (e.g. relocation consulting) required; post-graduate studies in Employee Relocation Management preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical and related experience required
  • Regulated Canadian Immigration Certification or CERC designation preferred
  • Knowledge of Canadian immigration laws policies and programs
  • Familiarity and experience with global talent programs and pathways such as LMIA LMIA-exempt and OINP is advantageous
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Employment Standards Act and Human Rights Legislation
  • Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience consulting with partners and managing a caseload
  • Results-driven and solution-focused problem-solver
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proven track record of providing superior customer service
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced expertise utilizing Microsoft Office applications including; Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook
