The VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) seeks an innovative hematology-oncology physician to serve as both a clinician and a leader of a large national cancer and chronic disease research program.
This position serves as Director Oncology and Chronic Disease Research at VA Boston Healthcare System.
Candidates for this major leadership position must have outstanding record of academic accomplishments and have proven leadership skills to attract motivate and direct a group of innovative and productive clinicians and researchers. The successful candidate should be eligible for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) or Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM).
This candidate will work collaboratively with leadership in the Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Collaborative (MAVERIC) by overseeing directing and expanding its portfolio of local and national oncology and chronic disease research programs clinical trials and epidemiologic studies. MAVERIC is one of the largest research organizations in VA with major resources in large-scale epidemiology clinical trials informatics and genomic research including the Million Veteran Program.
VABHS is the major tertiary referral center for Veterans from throughout New England and is the largest recipient of VA intramural research funds ranking among the top VA facilities in total research funding. The System comprises three major campuses and five community-based outpatient clinics. This full-time position reporting directly to the Chief Medical Service and has responsibilities for participating in the Sections clinical programs.

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Incentive may be offered to highly qualified eligible applicants
Pay: Competitive salary annual performance bonus regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave 13 days of sick leave 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Work Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
