We are currently expanding our leadership team and seeking a Flight Operations Manager (M/F/X) to oversee all flight operations regulatory compliance and mission-readiness across our growing fleet and international operations.
Flight Operations Manager (M/F/X)
Location: Athens Greece
Entity: Helion Helicopters (SAF Aerogroup / Airtelis JV)
Contract Type: Permanent
Reports to: Accountable Manager
About the Role
As the Flight Operations Manager you will act as the EASA-nominated post-holder responsible for ensuring the safety efficiency and compliance of all flight operations. You will lead a multi-base operational team interface with civil aviation authorities and collaborate across technical departments to deliver high-quality aviation services under challenging conditions.
Your Core Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Ensure compliance with EASA Air Operations Regulations (EU Reg. 965/2012) and customer operational protocols
- Manage Operations Manuals and ensure consistent operational application across all teams
- Oversee aircraft and crew scheduling across HQ and remote bases
- Serve as the operational link between SAF and Airtelis for European operations
Safety Quality & Compliance (QSE)
- Ensure adherence to Helions QSMS and HSE systems
- Promote ISO 9001 principles conduct safety audits and lead incident follow-up
- Oversee application of environmental and noise abatement policies
- Instill a strong safety culture and ensure proper use of PPE and team preparedness
Regulatory & Policy Leadership
- Monitor EASA regulatory updates and align internal SOPs accordingly
- Maintain required approvals and liaise with regulatory authorities
- Ensure full compliance under and FCL frameworks
Client & Contract Management
- Deliver contractually compliant flight operations aligned with SLAs
- Participate in operational evaluations for future business opportunities
Flight Involvement
- Perform operational flights when needed to maintain mission relevance and flight currency
Your QSE Commitments
- Champion ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 practices in daily operations
- Lead regular safety briefings across bases
- Monitor QSE KPIs and implement continuous improvement measures
- Foster team engagement and ownership of safety/environmental standards
Your Profile
- EASA ATPL(H) or CPL(H) license
- Extensive experience in helicopter flight operations
- Experience in managing operational and training teams
- Familiarity with HESLO and HHO operations (advantageous)
- Firefighting and aerial mission experience strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of EASA Ops Part-FCL and austere flight environments
- Skilled in using mission planning and ops management software
- Knowledge of QSMS ISO and 45001 standards
- Super Puma operational experience is a strong asset
- Fluent in English (written & spoken); Greek and/or French is a plus
