Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking SecondarySchool Assistant Principals to join our growing school division for the 2026-2027 School Year! Working alongside the Principal Assistant Principals provide leadership and support for the schools staff and students. The Assistant Principal plays a vital role in ensuring a positive learning environment maximizing student achievement and implementing the total school program.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervises the school when the principal is absent from the building
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies andapplicable laws
  • Collaborates with the principal in matters relating to the formulation and execution of school policies processes and routines
  • Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Assists the principal in the implementation supervision and evaluation of the total school instructional program including serving as the test coordinator for all federal and statewide assessments
  • Assists the principal in the selection assignment orientation and evaluation of staff
  • Promotes good working relationships among staff members
  • Supervises and coordinates staff non-primary duty assignments

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement or provisional endorsement as a Principal
  • Three (3) years of successful full-time teaching experience; two (2) in the level of education for which considered
