Job Summary

Summary

The Nurse Simulation Program Coordinator-Registered Nurse focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction and critical thinking skills. The RN-SPC is responsible and accountable for the development promotion and delivery of inter-professional simulation education training and evaluation for healthcare staff across all departments and services within the medical center and including outlying sites and clinics.



Duties

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Provides simulation training for all staff in inpatient and outpatient clinical units.
  • Assess plan implement and evaluate the compliance with national and local standards for the simulation program.
  • Maintain accurate records for all simulation and revelant training activity staff compliance and issue timely reports and updates on all activities.
  • Performs learning needs assessments and develops simulation trainings for staff within organization.
  • Understand instructional design simulation concepts implementation and application related to adult education training and program management.
  • Collaborates with leadership and supervisors to identify simulation training needs for staff while supporting activities that foster competence critical thinking skills clinical reasoning and decision making.
  • Ability to analyze interpret and evaluate data to determine outcomes and changes related to simulation programs. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program service facility and/or network/national level.

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements:

    Grade Determinations: The following Scope Education and Dimension criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates and if appropriate the level within a grade. The Dimension requirements (Practice Veteran/Patient Driven Care Leadership Professional Development and Evidence-Based Practice/Research) are detailed for each grade and level within the online assessment: I Level IDelivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical competencies.An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing with no additional professional nursing required.Nurse I Level IIDemonstrates integration of biopsychosocial concepts cognitive skills and technically competent practice in providing care to clients with basic or complex.An ADN or Diploma in Nursing AND 1 year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I Level 1 ;OR a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional professional nursing experience required.Nurse I Level IIIDemonstrates proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations.An ADN or Diploma in Nursing AND 2 years of professional nursing experience in which one year is equivalent to Nurse I Level 2; OR a BSN and 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the Nurse I Level 2; OR a Masters degree in nursing (MSN) and no additional professional nursing experience; OR a Masters degree in a *related field with a BSN and no additional professional nursing experience.Nurse IIDemonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.A BSN with 2 years of professional nursing equivalent to Nurse I Level 3; OR an MSN with one year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I Level 3; OR a Masters degree in a *related field with a BSN and one year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I Level 3; OR a Doctoral degree in Nursing with no professional nursing experience; OR a Doctoral degree in a *related field with a BSN with no additional professional nursing experience.Nurse IIIExecutes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership experience and creative approaches to management of complex client care beyond the immediate practice setting.MSN and 2 years of specialized nursing experience one of which is equivalent to Nurse II and meets all dimension requirements for Nurse III; OR a Masters degree in *related field with BSN and two years of specialized nursing experience one of which is equivalent to Nurse II and meets all dimension requirements for Nurse III; OR a Doctoral degree in Nursing with and one year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse II and meets all dimension requirements for Nurse III; OR a Doctoral degree in a *related field with a BSN and one year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse II and meets all dimension requirements for Nurse III.*Note: Foreign education programs/degrees are not creditable as related degrees.

    High Preferred Qualifications:
    • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
    • Current hospital-based simulation-specific role where 75% of responsibilities involve leading and delivering interprofessional simulation education.
    • Proficient in creating and running scenarios using LLEAP software and operating Laerdals medium and high-fidelity manikins.
    • Progressive leadership in simulation.
    • Current and active ACLS Instructor.
    • 2 to 5 years ICU and/or ED experience.
    Selective Placement Factor: A competency/KSAs or special qualification without which a candidate could not perform the duties of a position in a satisfactory manner. Selective factors are applied in addition to minimum qualifications. Applicants who do not meet a selective factor are ineligible for further consideration.
    • Recent evidence (past 2 years) of leading complex interprofessional simulation in a hospital setting.
    Reference: For more information on this qualification standard please visit Requirements: This position involves lifting moving and transporting patients assist with transferring patients from wheelchair to to stretcher or radiology suite table and vice versa. Also assist with transferring patients to wheelchairs and/or may need to escort a patient to other areas. This position involves exposure to blood borne pathogens fine manipulation standing walking bending crouching and reaching patients. It requires dealing with the acutely ill with patients who may display disturbed behaviors and with stressful situations. Moving patients and weighing patients in excess of 50 kg. or more. Wearing of a respirator may be required at times in the performance of the duties of this position. When required to use respirator employee cannot have facial hair or any condition that interferes with the face to face piece seal or valve function of the respirator.
