Announcement conjunction with the JBLM NAF HR Office Job Fair at the Eagles Pride Golf Course in Dupont WA on Tuesday 03 February 2026 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This position is located at American Lake Conference Center.

Duties

  • Prepares and cooks a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements with or without the assistance of another cook/supervisor; Takes food from prep area to refrigerators or serving area; Monitor inventory and rotating food inventories.
  • Follows recipes to prepare food items and adjusts recipes for larger or smaller quantities and portions out food for family style and plate service; Prepares vegetables and cold food dishes; Make a variety of salads salad dressings sandwiches.
  • Roasts a variety of meats such as beef pork veal lamb fish and poultry; Grills and deep fries foods; Broils and steams foods; Slices meat by hand and by mechanical means to specific requirements.
  • Follows health and safety precautions to ensure safe preparation and storage of food items; Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items; Uses cleans and maintains power kitchen equipment.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate temperature of all food items throughout preparation and service; Keeps working area and cooking utensils cleaned and ready for use in accordance with standard sanitation requirements; Maintains personal hygiene.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para.2 to include a medical examination. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required.
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Must be willing and able to work a schedule that includes working some nights weekends and possible holidays.
  • Physical Effort: Must be able to lift or move objects 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of other workers or lifting devices.
  • Working Conditions: Exposed to steam fumes odors from cooking and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units. Must stand on tile floor. Subject to burns cuts and slipping on wet floors.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicants relevant experience skills knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
1. A minimum of 6 months of work experience directly related to the duties described above that included skill in working with professional kitchen appliances and equipment.
2. Be able to communicate (verbal and written) in English.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time regular part-time and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances cost of living (COLA) and differentials will not be paid contingent upon eligibility.
