Remuneration: A PhD annual stipend for 3.5 years of full-time PhD enrolment ($37145 per annum for 2026 rate). The stipend rate is indexed annually and published on the Monash University Graduate Research Stipend and Allowance Rates website.

The Peter Meese Cabrini Oncology Nursing PhD Scholarship (Cabrini/Monash Nursing and Midwifery PhD Scholarship Program) offers an outstanding opportunity for talented registered nurse researchers to undertake PhD study in the field of oncology nursing. The scholarship supports candidates to pursue high-quality research at Cabrini Health and contribute to advancing cancer care through nursing research.
We are seeking expressions of interest from talented candidates who wish to apply for a PhD to undertake research in the field of oncology nursing focusing on a research topic that aligns with the strategic priorities of Cabrini Health commencing in 2026.
The PhD Project
The project plan will be developed by the successful candidate in collaboration with the PhD supervisors from Cabrini and Monash Nursing & Midwifery. The plan must align with strategic goals established by Cabrini Health in the field of oncology nursing.
Selection criteria:
Prospective applicants must hold current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and satisfy Monash University PhD entry requirements as outlined in the Monash Graduate Research Admission Procedure including but not limited to:
A bachelors degree of at least four years in a relevant discipline which includes a research thesis or project with a minimum overall average grade of an Honours degree equivalent to the Second Class Honours Division A; or
A masters degree in a relevant discipline which includes a research thesis or project equivalent to at least 25 percent of one year of full-time study with a minimum overall average grade of honours equivalent to the Second Class Honours Division A; or
A qualification or combination of qualifications and relevant professional experience deemed equivalent by the Graduate Research Committee (or delegate).
