The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center is seeking an Anesthesiologist. The Anesthesiologist is accountable to the Chief of Surgery and is responsible for providing the most effective delivery of anesthesia care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards.
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 23 2025. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be November 1 2025 with subsequent cut-off dates on the 1st of each month. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals until position is filled.

Duties will include but are not limited to: pre-anesthesia peri-anesthesia and post-anesthesia care in outpatient and inpatient setting; administration of general anesthesia spinal anesthesia epidural anesthesia and regional anesthesia in collaboration with other anesthesiologists; perform thorough pre/peri/post anesthesia assessments and develop individualized anesthesia patient care plans; emergency airway management in the hospital placement of intravenous catheters and intra-arterial lines and on-call responsibilities commensurate with other anesthesiologists in the department. The Anesthesiologist will assist with process improvement and quality assurance activities specific to the department.
To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
