Position Title : Data Scientist

Department : Data & Analytics Partnerships and Innovation Division

Location : Tokyo Japan

Join our Data & Analytics team to apply advanced machine learning and analytics that would drive more informed commercial decisions and boost product sales. Work cross-functionally with commercial marketing finance and medical teams and partner with the digital/innovation group to deliver the data backbone behind user-facing tools.

Your new role

As a Data Scientist at Novo Nordisk you will:

• Deliver production-grade models and analytics products including designing training validating and improving machine learning models such as classification regression clustering forecasting and Natural Language Processing.
• Deploy solutions into production environments and establish monitoring for model performance drift and reliability.
• Own the full data science lifecycle from framing business questions into testable hypotheses to communicating recommendations through clear narratives dashboards and decision-oriented outputs.
• Partner with stakeholders to understand objectives manage demand transparently and influence decision-making with evidence-based insights.
• Raise the bar on quality governance and standards by implementing strong practices for reproducibility documentation and explainability.
• Contribute to capability building in Japan by sharing best practices supporting analysts in upskilling and acting as a trusted advisor on AI/ML strategy discussions.

Your new department
Data & Analytics is a dynamic and growing function focused on building sustainable local analytics and AI capabilities aligned with global standards and local business needs. Based in Japan the team partners with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Innovation Finance Marketing Medical Sales) and collaborates closely with Data Platform and Data Governance teams to ensure solutions are robust secure and adopted. The atmosphere is fast-paced and collaborative with a shared commitment to delivering impactful data-driven solutions.

Your skills & qualifications
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Data Scientist who can bring the following qualifications to the role :

• Masters degree in Data Science Computer Science Statistics Mathematics or a related field; PhD preferred.
• 5 years in analytics/data roles including 2 years of hands-on data science experience implementing ML/statistical solutions.
• Strong Python coding skills and solid software/data engineering practices (version control testing packaging reproducibility).
• Proven experience working with structured data; experience in regulated industries (pharma healthcare finance) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear business decisions.
