The John F. KennedyElementary School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as theLibrary Aide beginning at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. JOB SUMMARY
The Library Aide will work30 hours per weekempowering students to become critical thinkers enthusiastic readers and ethical users of information. The library program is essential to learning and teaching and must be fully integrated into the curriculum and aligned to the School Improvement Plan to promote students achievement of learning goals and objectives.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
circulation and all material records using Follett Destiny library software
2. Maintain the library catalog and update and weed materials periodically
3. Create a welcoming atmosphere for young children by teaching students to use the library effectively
4. Select appropriate books to read aloudto students
5. Encourage students to read for understanding pleasure and the exploration of diverse
viewpoints and genres
6. Assist students with finding resources for class assignments
7. Help students check out materials inspect returned books for damage and send out due notices for unreturned items
8. Help teachers locate materials for their classrooms
9. Plan and advertise special library events such as book fairs and author visits
10. Create promotional displays and materials such as thematic reading lists
11. Collaborate support and share space with the Digital Learning Specialist
12. Perform other duties specifically articulated within the collective bargaining agreement as assigned by the building principal and/or District administration which includes 90 minutes of duties each week.
