About the role:

As an Assistant Scientist at Colgate you will play a key role in supporting research and development initiatives focused on creating innovative products that enhance the lives of our consumers. Working closely with cross-functional teams you will contribute to scientific investigations product formulation and process optimization helping to ensure Colgates commitment to quality safety and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experimental tasks such as making lab batches supporting batch scale-up conducting laboratory testing on products analyzing data and following aging studies.

  • Internal (e.g. peers and supervisors) communication of lab experiment results and information.

  • Keep a detailed written record of experimental work observations and summarizes results.

  • Maintain accurate documentation such as notebooks necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and bundle books.

  • Recommend new and/or improved product evaluation methods procedures and processes.

  • Ensure assigned activities are conducted and documented according to Quality requirements and systems; implement applicable preventive or corrective actions; ensure students and/or technicians collaborating in assigned projects execute and document activities according to Quality requirements and systems.

  • Conduct preliminary feasibility assessments on new technology and conduct basic foundation research and lab performance evaluation.

  • Assist in formula development stability evaluation evaluation of formula performance and communicate results to other functions.

  • Summarize product and process development learning.

  • Compile data required to ensure efficient technology transfer; identify and communicate potential issues.

  • Understand and use safe handling procedures for corrosive chemicals gases high pressure steam flammable solvents and fine particle size powders.

  • Comply with coordinate and execute Good Manufacturing Practices and Environmental Affairs Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) activities; take corrective actions to mitigate potential EOHS or Quality incidents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry Chemical Engineering Biochemistry Materials Science Biotechnology or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of relevant functional experience.

  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role within the consumer goods industry.

  • Intermediate level of English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mayor in: Chemistry Chemical Engineering Biochemistry Material Science (hard surfaces textiles biotechnology etc.).

  • Internships or Research experience.

  • Organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Google Suite Microsoft Word Project Excel and Powerpoint.
