This position is best suited to someone who enjoys a variety of new challenges a hands-on environment and will accept the challenges and reap the benefits of working with a team that likes to solve difficult problems for our customers. You will have an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to electrical and mechanical design pertaining to Switchboard & Switchgear in both the North American (UL) and European (IEC) markets. Primary focus will be the Americas (UL) market.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Global Product Managementthis position presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional pertaining to item master design level detail and project management that feeds Vertiv product configurator (both configuration and price) for power distribution equipment. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with the R&D team for AMER (UL) switchboard and switchgear design and develop the item master level detail to feed Vertivs configurator Oracle Cloud CPQ.
  • Item master represents the source of truth associated to the build construction for the gear from a technical point of view (mechanical electrical assembly times etc.).
  • Utilize the item master to create a bridge to the sales BOM which works as the front-end GUI for the configurator.
  • Partner with the cost manager for switchgear UL to create the association with the configuration to functional costing to drive quoted price.
  • Own the master data fields in the Oracle to feed both the Sales and Engineering bills of material.
  • Develop the requirement specifications to outline whats needed from the Oracle Cloud CPQ Team to ensure the configurator meets and exceeds the needs of the Switchboard and Switchgear business. Develop incremental requirements to evolve the launched product.
  • Partner with Vertiv Field Service to create and enable a service linkage to product configurator.
  • Partner with the application engineering team (pricing) to receive their feedback on configurations that are becoming a standard and work to program this into the tool.
  • Partner with order engineering to disable certain configurations that are not compliant with the products design file.
  • Partner with Vertiv Sales and received feedback on whats working well and where are improvements needed in the configurator (Oracle Cloud CPQ.)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Mechanical Electrical or Industrial). Software experience is beneficial too.
  • 8 plus years of experience in the electrical industry related to the product and overall marketspace is also acceptable.
  • Proven experience in a related position / comparable role involving exposure to design engineering and assembly of electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Proven understanding of UL standards including but not limited to UL 1558 UL 891 UL 489 & UL 1066.
  • Proven experience in a related position / comparable role involving exposure to design engineering and assembly of electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Aptitude for problem solving and ability to apply this to electrical control design
  • An adaptability to respond to a fast-moving business environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Display a proactive flexible approach to working within a team environment.
