The Importance of the Role

The Patient Affairs team at Sarepta partners with rare disease communities (including advocacy leaders individuals affected by rare diseases and their families) to foster important exchanges as Sarepta strives to transform the lives of individuals living with rare diseases. The individual selected for this internship will have exposure to rare disease patient advocacy from the biotechnology industrys perspective. You will learn from the perspective of people who are impacted by rare diseases and will see how these insights and perspectives are woven into decision-making throughout drug development.

The Patient Affairs Intern will gain unique exposure to the intersection of biotechnology patient advocacy and community engagement. As a patientfacing function Patient Affairs sits at the heart of Sareptas mission providing firsthand insight into how rare disease drug development impacts patients families and communities.

As the team expands into new disease areas and deepens its patientcentric strategies and operating models the intern will support meaningful missiondriven projects across patient engagement operations grants and sponsorships project management patient science programs and crossfunctional partnerships other projects as needed. This role offers a handson introduction to advocacy in rare disease and serves as a valuable gateway for students exploring careers in STEM biotech or patientfocused roles. The ideal candidate will leverage their interest in STEM passion for making an impact and organizational excellence to dive in headfirst into the rare disease advocacy landscape.

The Opportunity to Make a Difference

In this internship you will contribute to projects that elevate the patient voice strengthen operational excellence and support impactful partnerships across the rare disease community. You will gain broad exposure across patient engagement program operations grants processes and cross-functional collaboration helping advance Sareptas mission to support patients and families.

Key areas of contribution include:

  • Supporting the Route 79 Duchenne Scholarship Program including selection committee coordination content development and patientvoice integration

  • Assisting with Patient Affairs operational initiatives such as Patient Voice Events metrics tracking internal and external communications conference engagement execution etc.

  • Supporting Grants & Sponsorships operations including tracking submissions preparing committee materials and responding to internal updates

  • Contributing to Sareptas Patient Science Center SareptAcademy through content generation framework planning and logistical support

  • Streamlining patient insights and identifying company-wide approaches to share actionable insights including through the continued development of the patient insights AI platform

  • Attending department meetings virtual community events and a selection of other meetings for exposure to the drug development process and community considerations

  • Sculpting and producing a cornerstone project with the help of Patient Affairs team

More about You

  • Bachelors degree candidates who have completed at least their sophomore year ideally pursuing a degree in a STEM field public health communications or a related discipline

  • Ability to report to Cambridge MA office on a weekly or biweekly basis

  • Interest in patient education research and development and rare disease

  • Interest in unique therapies and the ability to understand scientific concepts

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills ability to engage with diverse audiences

  • Experience in project management

  • Compassion empathy curiosity the ability to listen

  • Microsoft Word Excel andPowerPointApplications

  • Highly organized proactive and detailoriented

  • Strong collaborator with a missiondriven mindset

  • Ability to manage multiple projects meet deadlines and work in a dynamic environment

Program Timeline

This application is for a 12-week summer internship program that will start on May 18th and conclude on August 7th 2026.

This position is hybrid you will be expected to work on site at one of Sareptas facilities in the United States and/or attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.

The targeted salary range for this position is $21 - $26 per hour depending upon years of education completed and nature of role.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
