The consumer goods industry is worth $3 trillion globally but is still heavily challenged by a lack of transparency inefficient collaboration and data flows which ultimately slows down the pace of innovation and therefore the amount of sustainable products being launched in the market.

Covalos mission is to foster greater transparency sustainability and innovation in the industry by connecting consumer goods brands with the right suppliers to bring products to market faster. Covalo has already become the Worlds Largest Ingredients Platform with 100.000 products from 1.500 suppliers globally and counts users from 5.000 brands across 145 countries.

Covalos breakthrough technology has been recognized by Web Summit (one of our founders pitched on the main stage!) the Swiss Innovation Agency industry partners and many tier 1 headquartered in Switzerland with branches in Germany and Portugal. Youll be part of a small (20-30 people) yet extremely passionate highly motivated and open-minded team. Youll have the freedom to drive the creation of an innovative product bring new ideas to the table lead on your area of expertise and craft your development path within the company.

Tasks

Your role on our growing highly motivated team is vital. Youll translate business requirements into pragmatic technical solutions contributing directly to the evolution of our platform and the transformation of the consumer goods industry.

In this position you will:

• Support the companys growth: Preparing and evolving our processes and codebase to accommodate increased traffic and clients.
• Enhance Services: Improve existing backend and frontend services by writing maintainable code refactoring as needed and implementing new features to meet evolving business needs.
• Facilitate Full-Stack Development: Contribute across the stack working on both backend and frontend components to deliver product features end-to-end.
• Collaborate with Product Management: Work with the product management team to understand requirements provide technical insights and ensure efficient development processes.
• Contribute to Development and Best Practices: Participate in code reviews learn from feedback follow agreed-upon standards and help maintain high-quality code testing and deployment.
• Innovate and Improve: Propose and implement improvements together with the team balancing innovation with stability and delivery

Requirements

We are looking for team players who want to make a difference have a strong sense of accountability and can easily adapt to the curveballs of startup life.

Youll work on a Java/Spring backend serving a React/TypeScript frontend deployed on AWS with a strong focus on maintainability and improvements. This role is ideal for a mid-level engineer who wants to grow into a senior role over time with mentorship ownership and increasing scope.

Skills and Experience

• Education: Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• 2-5 years of experience in the SaaS product or marketplace field
• Delivering production features across backend and frontend from implementation to deployment.
• Expertise in Java REST APIs TypeScript and React
• Bonus if you have experience with Spring Boot Relational databases
• Bonus if previously exposed to start-up and scale-up environments

Location

• Remote within Portugal with occasional in-person team gatherings in Lisbon or Porto. We are intentional about when why and how we meet in person.
